Thanks to its acquisition of Parcus Medical, Medacta Sportsmed now provides a portfolio of personalized solutions for patients’ joints.
March 10, 2025
By: Sam Brusco
Medacta is showcasing a number of its new, patient-focused innovations at this year’s American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) annual meeting.
This surgical technique was designed to restore natural knee function to its pre-arthritic state. The approach has multiple peer-reviewed studies that show its potential to significantly boost outcomes and quality of life post-surgery, according to Medacta.
This is the world’s first KA-optimized femoral component indicated for total knee replacement, according to the company. It’s now available with SensiTiN, a coating that reduces release of metal ions from the implant. It’s also available in a cementless configuration.

The personalized solution was designed to enhance intra-op planning with pre-bent rods that create thousands of solutions in both minimally invasive and open procedures. It’s part of the NextAR augmented reality surgical platform for joint replacement and spine procedures and has software for multiple applications (NextAR Knee, NextAR Shoulder, NextAR Spine).
It’s also an integral part of the company’s MySolutions personalized ecosystem, a network of digital solutions engineered to improve care and outcomes.
AMIS is a muscle-sparing technique for the hip that allows for quick recovery of normal activity, according to Medacta. MyPAO is a patient-matched tech solution to assist surgeons during periacetabular osteotomy procedures. It features a pre-op planning report, pre-op and post-op bone models, patient-specific realignment guides, and cortical screws.
The Glenoid Reconstruction System (GRS) Full Wedge addresses cases with glenoid bone loss or retroversion in shoulder surgery. The addition helps grow the range of implants available in the company’s shoulder portfolio.
“I am incredibly proud of the innovation represented by the new additions to each of our product lines, demonstrating the breadth of our offerings and our unwavering commitment to improving patient care,” said Francesco Siccardi, CEO of Medacta. “The recent acquisition of Parcus Medical significantly strengthens our Sportsmed portfolio and perfectly aligns with our strategic direction. We extend a warm welcome to our new colleagues from Parcus, and we’re delighted to have them at our booth, showcasing the expanded Medacta Sportsmed portfolio.”
“Moreover, 2025 marks 10 years of success of our Kinematic Alignment in combination with Medacta’s Ball-in-Socket design for total knee replacement, a milestone that underscores our dedication to sustainable innovation, a testament to our enduring leadership in the field,” added Siccardi.
Medacta can be found at AAOS 2025 at booth #2421.
